This is the inside of the new sensor - the 'S' terminal is obviously the 'switched' terminal and it gets a 9 volt feed when movement is detected - I originally thought I was very fortunate that it was a 3.2 volt feed but that was an error in the voltmeter relating to it only switching for one second . 
Yesterday I fried my remote by accidentally sending 9 volts to the 3 volt feed !
